_3 Aout 1965_Santa Ana, Californie, USA_12:37_Rex Heflin, employé des Ponts et Chaussées en inspection sur l'état de la route de Myford Road, roule au volant de sa camionnette lorsqu'il repère un objet dans le ciel. Il arrête son véhicule, se saisit de son Polaroïd destiné à constater les obstacles présents sur les routes — modèle 101, corps en alliage de chrome, lentille "triplet", viseur télémètrique par superposition d'images et correction de parallaxe, focale de 114 mm, ouverture maximale à 8,8, ASA 3000 — et réussit à prendre 3 clichés avant que l'objet volant ne disparaisse à grande vitesse dans un nuage de fumée.
